Historical centre of tin mining

The town of Krásno (German: Schönfeld) was established at the site of the old mining settlement of Drei Linden. The oldest preserved town documents date back to 1341 and 1355 – they mention that important tin and mining court rights were granted by the lords of the Bečov manor, Slávek (Schlacko) and Bořek (Borsso) of Riesenburg.

The main tourist attractions in Krásno are the premises of the Wilhelm Mine (a cultural monument) along with the Mining Museum, which is dedicated to the mining history of the former royal mining town and its environs (traces of tin mining, the water canal Dlouhá Stoka) and also to its present-day mining (production of feldspar minerals for the ceramics industry). Other preserved structures on the premises include a mine headframe and its tower, an engine room, an ore dressing plant, a row of workshops, a gatehouse and a transformer station. An exhibit of the rail transport used in brown coal open pits in the Sokolov region and also in the underground mines of the Slavkov mining district was built outside on the premises. It is also possible to enter a perfectly preserved adit, which is about 40 m long.

The environs may be viewed either from Vysoký Kámen Hill, a geologically important locality, situated on a fault line, with old mine workings and occurrences of rare minerals, or especially from the observation tower on Krásenský Vrch Hill (a cultural monument).
