Lomnička

Nature trail and Jewish cemetery

Lomnička (German: Steingrub) is a village, ein Teil der Stadt Plesná im Bezirk Cheb der Region Karlsbad. It is about 2.5 kilometers east of Plesná. Eisenerz was transported by car from Lomnička to Nejdek. At the beginning of the 19th century, Hamr was displaced by the emerging textile industry and the factories turned into a spinner and later into a web.

Jewish Cemetery

In 1793, Jews moved to the village and founded a Jewish cultural community and a Jewish school. In 1822, a Jewish cemetery and prayer house were founded. The Jewish cultural community was dissolved in 1895. The last Jew left Lomnička in 1901. Isaac Mayer Wise, the founder of Reform Judaism in America, was born in the village on March 29, 1819. The local Jewish community is commemorated by a forest cemetery, through which a nature trail will take us.
