Royal Mint

The permanent exhibition is dedicated to the history of the town of Jáchymov, a demonstration of the mineral wealth of the Ore Mountains, silver mining with a moving model of mining activities, in the exhibition you will also learn about the period of the greatest flourishing of Jáchymov coinage and Renaissance culture (the library of the Latin school from the 16th century, examples of the works of the naturalist Georgius Agricola, the pastor Johann Mathesius and the composer Nickle Hermann, epitaph paintings, etc.), the exhibition also describes the local industry and the flourishing of the town in the era of radon spas, and a period balneoordination can be seen. The Ore Mountains ethnography describes the difficult life in the harsh climatic conditions of the mountains. You can also see a permanent exhibition about the camps of political prisoners at the Jáchymov uranium mines after 1950. The tour route also includes an extensive underground area; in the basement there is a lapidary with fragments of portals and linings, especially from the no longer existing house of the mint master.
