Cultural place of interest

The castle was founded after 1200, and it is first mentioned in 1223. It was originally named Alt Kiensberg (the blessed Hroznata, founder of the Teplá Monastery, was allegedly imprisoned here). The castle´s massive cylindrical bergfried (tower) with herringbone masonry was preserved. The castle is a two-storeyed pseudo-Renaissance structure with an L-shaped layout and a stair tower, double-pitched roof and gable. A large hall with a smooth ceiling and Empire stove is located on the first floor of the castle.

 

Loreto Chapel in Starý Hrozňatov – cultural monument and pilgrimage site

The pilgrimage site was founded in the 17th century at the site of the Loreto chapel in order to revive the Marian cult. The Loreto chapel became dilapidated during the 1950s, but the Loreto-Verein Society from Waldsassen headed by chairman Anton Hart (†) arranged for its restoration in the 1990s
