For safety reasons, the stability of the mine structure is being measured in the Jeroným mine. The Institute of Geonics of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic has been conducting measurements in selected areas of the mine since 2004 by using seismic equipment and seismometers. The recorded records can be divided into two categories: natural (earthquakes) and technical (blasting of explosives in nearby quarries, vibrations caused by vehicle traffic, construction and exploration work in the mine and on the surface). Thanks to this measurement, we record the above-mentioned phenomena and their impact on the stability of the rock massif of the Jeroným mine. It is worth mentioning a very distant recorded phenomenon, such as the record of a nuclear explosion in North Korea on September 3, 2017 or the earthquake swarm from 2017 in nearby Lazy, which was registered only with this equipment. In summary, it can be stated that all measured events do not have a significant impact on the stability of the mine, even though the mine is located near the seismically active area of West Bohemia with the epicenter in the Cheb Basin.
