Since 1973, he began to cooperate with the archaeologist of the Cheb Museum, Pavel Šebesta (1943-2021). In 1974, he became a member of the Czechoslovak Archaeological Society and began to engage in field research in the vicinity of Mariánské Lázně, especially in extinct villages and noble residences, especially the Kynžvart Castle. Some of his discoveries (e.g. the location of the Krajt fortress) are not accepted by the professional public. Buchtele was the author of a number of small studies and monographs, often written together with Richard Švanderlík. He published small studies in the magazines Hamelika, Arnika and Hláska.
