The former Tosta textile factory in Plesná in the Cheb region has undergone a transformation. In the exhibitions titled "Czech-Bavarian War and Post-War Exhibitions" and "Common Geological Past", visitors will find information about the war and post-war history of Plesná and a short animated film on the topic of geology and earthquakes.
Plesná Museum
The exhibition describes the story of a specific person, the son of the last German mayor of Plesná, Adolf Penzel, how people of two nationalities lived together in the border region. It tells about childhood in the Plesná region, the rise of fascism and the deportation of German residents, and about the new beginnings of those who had to leave after the war. It is Adolf Penzel who is behind the creation of the museum in the town of Eichenzell, where most of the displaced Germans from Plesná took refuge after the war. However, the museum also presents life in the border region from a Czech perspective. It also includes the establishment of the republic, the rise of German nationalism, including the deportation of the Czech population, approximately fifty Czechs from Plesná. In another exhibition, people will learn a lot about the post-war deportation of the German population, the resettlement of the border region, and life behind the Iron Curtain.
