Starý Hrozňatov is a castle rebuilt into a chateau. It is located in the village of Hrozňatov near Cheb. The original castle was built in the 12th century. Its current appearance is the result of many reconstructions. After the Thirty Years' War and Baroque reconstruction, it was bought by the Jesuits of Cheb in 1658. After the abolition of the order, the chateau changed hands several times.

After 1945, the chateau was confiscated and a Border Guard unit moved in, which completely devastated it. After the border guard left, it was supposed to become a lapidary of Baroque sculpture. However, this period lasted only a short time, and the Ministry of the Interior banned this activity. Today, the chateau is in private hands. The construction of the Baroque pilgrimage site of Maria Loreto is also associated with the Jesuits' work in Starý Hrozňatov. The Baroque site also included a Stations of the Cross with 29 stations and life-size statues. Maria Loreto had a similar troubled past as the Starý Hrozňatov Chateau, but fortunately it too survived the years of indifference and disinterest until today.
