Summer oak in the Dvoreček

...And only the tree remained

The remains of the settlement of Dvoreček (German: Höflasgut) are located in the Krapice part of the city of Františkovy Lázně, near the road connecting Dolní Lomany and Ostroh, towards Antonínov výšín. Cycle route 36 runs by the settlement. In the 14th century, a manor house was mentioned here, perhaps still a fortress at that time, first mentioned as Höfelein in 1392.

Since 1850, Krapice has been under Horní Lomany, since 1922 under Krapice. By 1930, there were 4 houses and 51 inhabitants. After 1945, the settlement was taken over by a state farm. In 1960, Dvoreček and Krapice were incorporated into Františkovy Lázně. In 1980, it was officially abolished. Most of the houses were gradually demolished (including the chateau) and only the former farm buildings were preserved. A memorial tree known as the Dvoreček holm oak grows on the territory of the extinct settlement. It is a memorial tree, a solitary holm oak (Quercus robur). It grows by the road from Františkovy Lázně to Ostroh at the turnoff to the Dvoreček settlement. The trunk circumference measures 481 cm, the bristly and wide crown of the tree with many skeletal branches reaches a height of 24 m (measured in 2014). There is a low fence around the tree. The tree was declared a memorial in 1985 as a tree significant for its age and height.
