Konnersreuth

Miracles happen even in Bavaria

The small Bavarian town of Konnersreuth is located approximately 35 kilometers from Cheb. If you are a lover of historical monuments, it does not have much to offer you. But Terezie Neumannová (Therese Neumann, called Resl von Konnersreuth, also Rézl) was born here and worked there throughout her life. Her story caused a sensation and is still one of the biggest unexplained cases in our region.

The whole thing is all the more interesting because we do not have to rely on any ancient testimonies or legends. The story took place in the 20th century and is thoroughly documented and described by expert authorities, both scientific and ecclesiastical.

Birthplace of Theresa Neumann in Konnersreuth

At the beginning of March 1926, she first developed stigmata, i.e. bleeding wounds in the places where Christ was wounded on the way to Golgotha and the crucifixion. The first sign was a blood stain on the left side of her chest. Rézl managed to hide this first stigma. Her sister cared for her, who immediately burned the towels and washcloths soaked in blood.During the Third Reich, Theresia Neumann was ridiculed, slandered and constantly monitored by the Gestapo. It is interesting that the Nazi authorities never took action against her and she was never physically attacked. On May 17, 1962, Rézl was told that she would no longer be among the living on September 30. She managed to issue the last instructions for the construction of the Theresianum monastery and institute and breathed her last on September 18, 1962. Although she was a simple woman with no education, it is recorded that during her Friday trances she spoke Aramaic and also understood Greek, Latin and Hebrew. In 2005, a process began in the Vatican that should end with Teresa Neumann's beatification.
