The Cheb Museum is housed in a historic burgher's house called Pachelbel's House. It is one of the oldest regional museums in Bohemia. In 1634, Albrecht von Wallenstein was murdered in this building. The museum has exhibitions dedicated to the history of the city, Wallenstein and the Thirty Years' War. Valuable exhibits include the Cheb antependium, Romanesque embroidery from the Poor Clares monastery in Cheb. Another interesting item is the golden sun, which originally decorated the tower of Neuhaus an der Eger Castle in Hohenberg, Germany, and was acquired by Cheb as a trophy. In 1913, the museum acquired a valuable collection from the historian Hermann Hallwich, which included, among other things, ivory miniatures - a set of 40 pieces of carvings representing both leading figures from the Thirty Years' War and historical scenes from this period. Around 1920, the museum acquired the legacy of Michael Müller, which includes an extensive collection of traditional costumes, pictures and other objects from the history of Egerland.
