A boulder called Dominik

The solitary granite boulder (called Dominik) is a perfect example of the weathering of granites of the Karlovy Vary Pluton. It represents the more resistant core of the rock, which surfaced after the erosion of the surrounding weathered material and which was further transformed by the actions of natural elements into its current shape.

The rounded boulder, whose dimensions are 3.5´1.5 m with a height of 2 m, is composed of porphyritic biotite granite. Only a small portion of the logan stone rests on the ground, making it therefore possible to gently rock the boulder. A bowl-shaped cavity, whose natural origin cannot be definitely determined, is located on its top side.

The site was popular with hikers as early as the 18th century – as evidenced by several old inscriptions dated from 1776 and 1796.

The Rybničná Logan Stone is a protected natural monument.
